Welcome Message from the School Head

Welcome to Saint Maur International School, Yokohama.

Even before the word 'international' came into being, the concept existed, as in 1872 legations representing over fifteen countries were involved in establishing Saint Maur, the oldest existing international school in Japan.

The school, with a student body representing over thirty nationalities and staff over fifteen, continues to offer a quality education within a caring family environment to students from the international community of all genders, nationalities, and religious denominations from the age of 2 1/2 through 18+. Through our diversity we strive to instill within all an appreciation of people and their differences. Through our Adult Enrichment Program we demonstrate and encourage learning as a life-long pursuit to be enjoyed by all, and through the many events and projects which take place during the academic year, we capitalize upon the wealth of talent and expertise which exists within the international community to benefit all.

For us, education encompasses the entire family, and as such, we work together to create an environment conducive to learning, which is something to be perceived as enriching and joyful, as well as a productive preparation for life. While academic achievement is encouraged, we also stress good manners, judgment, and social awareness, with importance being given to the development of each student’s mental, physical, spiritual, social, and creative growth. We are confident that your child/children would benefit from the education we have to offer, and we invite you to work with us to provide them with the tools they will need to be happy, successful, and effective contributing members of society.

Our multi-national staff bring with them an abundance of expertise and knowledge in a variety of areas. They are highly qualified, dedicated, and committed to the school's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
