Sakura Medal

Sakura Medal at Saint Maur

The Sakura Medal is an annual reading programme in international schools across Japan that encourages students to read and enjoy recently published books from an international list selected by librarians.

At Saint Maur we are participating in the Picture Book category for grade 2 students and the Chapter Book category for students in grades 3 to 5. Students need to read at least five titles off the list to be eligible to attend a party, held in the library in April, where they get to vote for their favourite book.

At the conclusion of the programme, all the votes are tallied across the participating schools, and the winning author is notified and awarded the Sakura Medal.
