Gift giving on Tuesday, December 6, 2016
Led and organized by Stephanie O. and Mame I. in Gr.11, seven Saint Maur students and two teacher advisors connected with the High School Student Council visited the Kofu Kodomoen Orphanage to deliver Christmas presents in our annual Toy Drive. These students gladly presented toys and gifts kindly donated by students in our High School, to help brighten the children's Christmas season. Staff and teachers of Saint Maur also gathered 37,000 yen to donate to the orphanage to assist with daily operations, and presented this financial gift long with edible treats for the hardworking staff there.
It was our pleasure to spend an evening playing games with the nearly 40 children ranging in age from 3 to 18, and watch their faces light up with delight at the small gifts shared. Just one example: the little boy in the attached photo who received a shinkansen toy to push around was over the moon with joy and couldn't be stopped! We were reminded that in giving we receive, and lots of warm memories will be cherished.
Here's wishing you all a very merry Christmas!
