Robotics

Robotics is a multi-disciplinary subject requiring students to apply knowledge from many areas of study.

At Saint Maur we recognize the call for more students to begin learning robotics at a younger age so they are more prepared for learning that will occur in future years. Moreover, robotics serves as a supplement to Mathematics, Science, and Technology, as well as an introduction to engineering, that will foster continued development in these core areas.

In 2011 Saint Maur opened a new state-of-the-art Science Center which houses a robotics laboratory and workspace. Through partnerships and collaboration with VEX, Lego, and National Instruments our Robotics Program continues to develop and expand.

Beginning in Grade 3, Saint Maur students are able to learn basic robotics and programming skills. Students can develop their skills and compete in the Saint Maur RoboSumo Challenge.

Beginning in Grade 7, students are able to study more advanced topics, such as robotics engineering, VEX, ROBOTC, Lego Mindstorms, and Computer Science. Saint Maur also coordinates and hosts annual competitions around these subject areas.
