Saint Maur History Bowl Teams excel at 2026 Japan History Bee & Bowl National Championships
At Saint Maur International School, learning extends well beyond the classroom, and our students’ recent success at the 2026 Japan History Bee & Bowl National Championships is a strong reflection of that commitment.
Through a balance of academic rigor, curiosity and meaningful co-curricular engagement, students are encouraged to pursue excellence and test their abilities in competitive academic settings.
On 18 April 2026, Saint Maur’s History Bowl teams competed at Saint Mary’s International School. In the Varsity Division, Saint Maur’s Team A went on to place third overall, which qualified the team for both the History Bowl Asian Championships in Thailand this June and the International History Olympiad. A second Varsity team also competed with determination and consistency, finishing fifth overall.

They have also earned qualification to the Asian Championships, providing further opportunity to represent the school on a regional stage. In the Middle School Division, Saint Maur’s middle school representatives delivered a strong showing where they secured fourth place overall. In doing so, they became the first middle school team in the school’s history to qualify for both the Asian Championships and the International History Olympiad.

- In recent years, Saint Maur’s History Bowl program has continued to build momentum, earning the following distinctions:
- Saint Maur Varsity Team A – 3rd place, 2024–2025 National Championships (Spring) and competed in the 2025 Asian Championships in Thailand
- Saint Maur Junior Varsity – Champion, 2024–2025 National Championships (Spring) and competed in the 2025 Asian Championships in Thailand
- Saint Maur Junior Varsity – Runner-up, 2023–2024 Winter Tournament
- Saint Maur Junior Varsity – Semifinalist, 2023–2024 National Championships (Spring)
Most importantly, students themselves often point to another dimension of the experience. As one team member shared, what they value most is not simply the outcome, but the camaraderie developed within the team and the enjoyment of engaging with challenging questions together. In this sense, competition becomes not only a measure of achievement, but also a space for shared enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity.
Participation in academic competitions such as the History Bowl provides Saint Maur students with opportunities to extend their learning, engage with like-minded peers, and develop confidence in their intellectual abilities. They also reflect the supportive environment within the Saint Maur community, where students are encouraged to challenge themselves and pursue their interests at a high level.
