IGCSE and IB Academic Achievements and Results 2025
At Saint Maur International School, academic excellence is not only measured through classroom learning, but also through the performance of our students in rigorous, externally-administered examinations. Each year, students across different grade levels challenge themselves with assessments such as the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), Advanced Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma examinations. These results provide valuable benchmarks, both for students as they prepare for future studies, and for the school as it continues to nurture a culture of achievement and resilience.
The 2025 examination season once again reflected the dedication, hard work, and spirit of our students. We are proud to share the highlights of their success in the following sections.
SAT Results - Academic Year 2024-2025
Students at Saint Maur take the SAT to support their university applications not only in the United States, but also in Asia (including Japan) and, in some cases, schools within the European Union and Australia. While most students take the SAT in Grades 11 and 12, some students also sit for the exam in Grade 10. The average SAT score for the Academic Year 2024-2025 was 1283 out of 1600. Saint Maur students averaged 617 out of 800 in the Reading and Writing section, exceeding the College Board benchmark of 480. In the Math section, students averaged 666 out of 800, also surpassing the benchmark of 560 set by the College Board.
IGCSE Examination Results May 2025
Each year in May and June, our tenth graders take the externally-administered IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) examinations. Last year, all Grade 10 students at Saint Maur participated in these exams, with their results being released on August 20th, 2025.
The results showed that Saint Maur students achieved a large number of A* and A grades, accounting for over half of all the grades (52.17% to be precise). Moreover, 90% of the grades were at least a C or above (C grades and above are generally recognized as "good" passing grades). We are proud to recognize our IGCSE Music students, all of whom earned an A or A* on their exams.
The formal certificates, which will be presented later this year, are increasingly being asked for by a number of universities, including those in the US, as part of the application process.
Congratulations to all last year's sophomores, who have now embarked on their IB courses in Grade 11 with a solid foundation and knowledge of how to succeed in examinations that are administered and marked by an external authority.
AP Japanese Language and Culture Results May 2025
In May 2025, 17 sophomore students from the Japanese Heritage and Japanese B classes proudly took on the challenge of the Advanced Placement (AP) Japanese Language and Culture Exam. While AP exams are typically reserved for seniors just before graduation, our sophomores demonstrated exceptional dedication and skill by sitting the exam two years early. This marked only the second year of offering the exam at our school, with full participation from both classes. We are thrilled to share that 7 of these students achieved the highest possible score of 5, and an additional 3 students earned the next highest score of 4—an outstanding accomplishment that reflects their hard work, passion for learning, and commitment to excellence.
IB Results of the Class of 2025
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP) examinations are held every May over a three week period, with 202,103 candidates taking exams worldwide in May 2025.
For context, in order to receive the full IB Diploma, standard general requirements include that candidates earn at least 24 points across six subjects; complete the Creativity-Activity-Service (CAS) requirement over two years; complete the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course; and write an Extended Essay (EE), which is an independently written 4000-word academic research paper. The maximum point total is 45 (with up to 42 points available from the six subjects, and up to three additional points available for work submitted for TOK and the EE).
In May 2025, 32 students in Grade 12 at Saint Maur sat the IB examinations, 29 of whom were full IB Diploma candidates. 100% successfully completed the requirements to earn the IB Diploma, in comparison with a worldwide pass rate of 81.3%. The cohort had a mean total points score of 34.2 points out of 45, exceeding the world mean of 30.5. The average subject grade obtained by students who passed the full IB Diploma was 5.4 (out of 7), surpassing the worldwide mean subject grade of 4.9.
Congratulations are due to the six full IB Diploma candidates (21% of the cohort) who earned 40 or more points, with a special recognition to the student who achieved an outstanding 45 points – an impressive feat!
The Bilingual Diploma recognizes those IB Diploma candidates who studied two Group 1 language courses (for example, English A and Japanese A language and literature). Congratulations to the 11 students (38% of the cohort) who achieved a Bilingual Diploma this year.
And finally, thank you to everyone in the community – teachers, parents, friends, tutors – for their support of our recently graduated students. We fondly wish our graduates all the best in their future educational endeavors around the world.
