We Love Animals" Campaign: Compassion in Action
The Elementary Student Council (ESSC) recently led a meaningful initiative called “We Love Animals”, which saw students work together to support a local charity, the Kanagawa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (KSPCA).
At the beginning of the school year, the ESSC members voted to support both a domestic and an international charity. The KSPCA was selected as their domestic charity, allowing students to make a positive impact within their local community. The goal of the campaign was simple yet impactful: to help care for animals in need. The ESSC members went to work organizing, promoting, and encouraging participation across the Elementary School. Students and families across all levels of the school generously donated a total of 246 towels and blankets, which are essential items for providing comfort to the rescued animals. In addition, the ESSC raised 53,589 yen in monetary donations to further support the KSPCA's ongoing efforts, with some staff members even contributing on behalf of the beloved animals in their own families. Each contribution, whether big or small, played a part in helping the animals receive the care and protection they deserve.

To deepen their understanding, the ESSC members visited the shelter and personally delivered the donations to the chairman, Ms. Yamada. During their visit, Ms. Yamada spoke with the students about the animals in the shelter, sharing their stories and helping students better understand the care they require. The students asked thoughtful questions and showed genuine curiosity and compassion as they learned more about the animals’ needs. Following their visit, the ESSC members shared what they learned with the wider school community during a recent Elementary School assembly, where they presented information about the animals and the work of the KSPCA, helping to raise awareness and inspire others to care for animals in need.

The “We Love Animals” campaign is a wonderful example of our students putting their values into action. Through teamwork, leadership, and a shared sense of purpose, the ESSC helped foster a spirit of generosity and empathy within our school community. We are incredibly proud of our students for their efforts and grateful to all the families who supported this initiative.
