Secondary School Students Gain Trinity Music Qualifications

Last week we gave a special mention to all the High School students who recently gained Trinity Music qualifications and will do the same this week for the Middle School!

This year 114 of our students, of all ages, from Grade 1-12, obtained Trinity Music qualifications. That's about one quarter of the school! These academic qualifications are an internationally recognised measurement of ability on an instrument and are assessed by the prestigious London conservatoire, Trinity College.

All students pursuing instrumental lessons at Saint Maur follow the engaging curriculum and take part in these exams and Saint Maur is one of the only schools in Japan to offer this in-house. This year students took exams in a huge range of instruments, including woodwind, brass, strings, percussion and piano. It is incredible to see how many of our students achieved advanced qualifications this year: Nine students took the highest possible level of standard examination, Grade 8, with one student even achieving an LTCL Diploma on flute - the second tier Diploma level, equivalent to the final year recital of an undergraduate Music degree. These qualifications are a great way for students to enhance their CVs and in the UK, an advanced Trinity exam can even count for an equivalent amount of UCAS points to an IB subject for University entry. We are very grateful to our enthusiastic team of 14 world class instrumental teachers for preparing our students so well for these exams.

We offer a vast range of instrumental lesson options at Saint Maur and are offering upright bass, bass guitar and guitar tuition for the first time this year. Congratulations to all our students who worked hard to pass a Trinity exam this year!
