Cougars Win Big In MS Boys' Baseball Season Opener

Saint Maur Cougars MS Boys’ Baseball team returned to action on Thursday for the first time in 2 seasons where they captured a comfortable victory against their local rival YIS Dragons. With the majority of the players playing in their first baseball game, Cougars still dominated from the very beginning.

The team was led by their ace pitcher, XuanMing, who pitched three shutout innings, striking out eight batters en route to his dominant performance. Joshua, who was playing catcher for the first time in his young career, was also phenomenal behind the plate. The offense was also led by Joshua, who drove in 2 runs including a triple which the ball carried over the opposition’s center fielder. The rest of the runs came by walks given up the Dragons pitchers where they struggled to find the strike zone. Credit goes to Cougars batters for being patient inside the batter’s box and taking walks after walks which led to many runs. After the outstanding performance on the mound by XuanMing, it was Hinata who closed the game for the Cougars. Although he gave up 3 runs in the end, Hinata still managed to earn three well-deserved outs. The game was called at 18:00 and the final score was 10-3 in favor of the Cougars. Congratulations to every member of the MS Boys Baseball team for their hard fought victory. With the announcement of the State of Emergency in Tokyo, the remainder of the season is still up in the air. Having said that, Coach Yoshii and Coach Dias are very proud of each individual’s progress, effort, and all of the positive attitude that we’ve seen throughout what could be a short season.
