An Interview with Anna Novick on Being A Third Culture Kid

Our IB Biology teacher and Saint Maur alumna, Anna Novick, was interviewed by the Tokyo Alumni Podcast and takes us on that journey of what it was like for her growing up as a third culture kid in the small town of Hayama in Japan, where she attended local Japanese school from kindergarten through 9th grade as the only redhead among 500 kids.

Anna touches upon the growth that comes from self-reflection and empathy, and how both are crucial in building authentic relationships. She tells us about why she chose to teach at an international school after graduating from Harvard. She also reflects upon pursuing a competitive sport, and her coaching philosophy that inspires Saint Maur's Cross Country legacy. If you are curious about what Anna reckons about the International Baccalaureate programme, what challenges you might face when writing your first novel, translating from Japanese to English, competitive running and more - jump right in and listen to her inspiring story.
