Monday April 23rd was sure to become an exciting day for twenty-two Montessori and Elementary School students who performed in the 3rd Ballet Club Mini-Spring Recital in the Auditorium.  During lunch, the Montessori classroom was transformed to a hair salon where the little ballet performers had their chignon hairstyle done.  Just before Period 6 ended, the Elementary School students headed to the Auditorium Dressing Room and joined the Montessori’s transformation to graceful and stylish ballet... Elementary Kendo Club enjoyed the last practice of the year on Thursday, May 3rd in the Interim Gym. This was a very special practice where we welcomed and practiced with 12 children from Namiki Kenyukai, a Kendo school run by Michishita-sensei (7th Dan Kendo Master). Michishita-sensei is the grandfather of Shion (Gr. 4), and has been co-coaching Elementary Kendo Club for the past 4 years. Without a cloud in the sky a constant stream of Saint Maur families, alumni, friends and guests spent a leisurely and enjoyable day on campus shopping, listening to the Jazz bands and satisfying their taste buds with a wide variety of international foods and beverages on offer. Born on May 2, 1901, Genesis World Records has validated that she is the oldest living person in the world at the age of 116, just a few days short of 117. How is she related to Saint Maur? She is the paternal great grandmother of our alumnae sisters, Manami (Class of 2012) and Yuriya (Class of 2016) and lives in Yokohama. CONGRATULATIONS to the Miyako family!

April 14th was the annual RoboSumo Challenge competition at Saint Maur International School. This event is available to middle and elementary students across the Kanto area and offers an opportunity for students to collaborate and share their passion for robotics. The autonomous programming section requires that robots remain inside the sumo ring by detecting the white line around the outside using a light/colour sensor. On Sunday, 22nd of April, Grade 11 students from Saint Maur took part in an Enoshima Beach cleaning project. This valuable experience offered our students a chance to give back to their local community and to maintain the cleanliness of a site to be used for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for sailing. Our students were a great representation of giving and kindness, as they completed their own cleaning but also in assisting the organisers with the collation of bags collected and counting the overall... The Saint Maur International Food Fair, which is open to the general public, takes place annually on April 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on campus regardless of the day of the week. With an abundance of international food and beverages, a variety of live entertainment, and the many other attractions offered throughout the day, there is something for everyone, regardless of age or culinary tastes.
