Across cultures and traditions, celebrating milestones and rituals is an significant part of the human experience and it binds families across generations. In schools we have excellent opportunities to pause, reflect and rejoice with students when they reach certain moments in their life that signify change, more responsibility or an entry into sacredness.
June 6th was a day filled with both joy and reflection, as the Class of 2025 was officially bid farewell at a deeply moving Graduation Mass. Held at Sacred Heart Cathedral and presided by Fr Raju, the ceremony marked the end of a significant chapter in the lives of our graduating students and offered a moment to celebrate all they have achieved.
Our Days of Reflection offer students the chance to step back from their regular routines and come together as a cohort to engage with one of the Saint Maur Essential Outcomes (SMEOs) through meaningful conversations, games, hands-on challenges, and group bonding. This year, the focus for Grade 10 was on what it means to be balanced learners.
Love is the purpose and point of our existence. It guides us, gives us hope, and shapes our sense of self-worth. During the Grade 11 Day of Reflection at Saint Maur, students explored this essential human need—the need for meaningful connections and love found in platonic friendship.
The Grade 6 Day of Reflection marked a significant milestone in our students' journey of personal growth and leadership. This event, the first of many opportunities for our students to come together, was a meaningful day dedicated to exploring how they can embody the Saint Maur Essential Outcomes (SMEOs). Through cooperative games, reflective discussions, and motivational videos, students engaged with the theme of becoming "life-long learners" while fostering kindness and inclusivity.
The Grade 9 Day of Reflection was a meaningful, full-day event designed to highlight the Saint Maur Essential Outcomes, with a specific focus on fostering life-long learning. The event aimed to engage students in activities that reinforced their capacity to be continuous learners, as well as supportive members of their school community. Through a series of structured games, challenges, and reflective activities, students delved into concepts related to cooperation, communication, and goal setting—all essential skills for personal and academic growth.

Last week the Grade 9 students gathered for their Day of Reflection focusing on the topic on our Saint Maur Essential Outcome of being "Life-Long Learners". The Day of Reflection is an opportunity to pause our regular academic schedule and give attention to other aspects of their lives.
For their last Day of Reflection, students gathered to focus on the theme of being "Global Citizens"; one of our SMEOs which is fundamental as students begin their journey into adulthood. Grade 12s spend the day playing games, working cooperatively and considering how they can serve one another.
Days of Reflection are an opportunity for cohorts to come together and work on one of the Saint Maur Essential Outcomes through conversations, games, experiential activities and group bonding. For Grade 10, this year's theme, based on our SMEOs, was "Balanced Learners".
Our school was founded by the Sisters of Infant Jesus to provide educational opportunities to international families in Japan. Thus, for 150 years we have celebrated with our families the important milestones of life and encouraged and guided students to become moral citizens.
