Participating in the student exchange program with Yokohama Science Frontier High School (YSFH) was an eye-opening, once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was in a world of advanced learning and vibrant cultural exchange, an experience I’ll carry with me throughout my life.
At Saint Maur International School, academic excellence is not only measured through classroom learning, but also through the performance of our students in rigorous, externally-administered examinations. Each year, students across different grade levels challenge themselves with assessments such as the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), Advanced Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma examinations. These results provide valuable benchmarks, both for students as they prepare for future studies, and for the school as it continues to nurture a culture of achievement and resilience.
June 6th was a day filled with both joy and reflection, as the Class of 2025 was officially bid farewell at a deeply moving Graduation Mass. Held at Sacred Heart Cathedral and presided by Fr Raju, the ceremony marked the end of a significant chapter in the lives of our graduating students and offered a moment to celebrate all they have achieved.
Between May 26-28, the graduating class of 2025 visited Izu Ōshima for their Senior Trip. They spent three memorable days on the beautiful Tokyo island, just off the coast of Izu peninsula.
A very challenging component of the IB Chemistry course is the IB Chemistry Investigation (IA). Students research the literature, propose a unique research question, design an experimental protocol, and carry out the practical phase (approximately 10 hours) to collect data.
Our Days of Reflection offer students the chance to step back from their regular routines and come together as a cohort to engage with one of the Saint Maur Essential Outcomes (SMEOs) through meaningful conversations, games, hands-on challenges, and group bonding. This year, the focus for Grade 10 was on what it means to be balanced learners.
Last Friday, our Grade 6 and 7 students transformed the Cougar Café into a vibrant hub of scientific discovery at this year’s Middle School Science Fair where they proudly presented their projects to an audience of teachers, parents, peers, and guests from Yokohama Science Frontier High School.
On Friday April 25, Catherine Hubert Girod, a former student of Saint Maur, paid the school a visit in order to speak to several groups of students across secondary school about her experiences working for several different international organizations such as the Red Cross and the United Nations.
On Saturday, April 28, the Saint Maur High School MUN club held its final event at Aoba Japan International School in Tokyo. This marked the culmination of their participation in five conferences since September. During these conferences, the club engaged in discussions on various global issues, including social and economic growth, human rights, security, conflict, and migration. Ting Wen (Grade 11), who participated in his first conference as a delegate this week, shared his reflections on the experiences he gained.
Love is the purpose and point of our existence. It guides us, gives us hope, and shapes our sense of self-worth. During the Grade 11 Day of Reflection at Saint Maur, students explored this essential human need—the need for meaningful connections and love found in platonic friendship.
Two Grade 12 students attended the annual Forum of International Research in Science and Technology (YSF-FIRST 2025) on Saturday 25th March hosted by Yokohama Science Frontier High School.
